About me

Hello, my name is Malinalli and I currently work as a teacher at the science faculty of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Eight years ago, I did my masters at Technical art History at the University of Glasgow because as a Physics undergrad dedicated to the study of cultural heritage using non-destructive spectroscopic techniques I decide to go and try to find an intersection between the art and the sciences, thus being invited by Dr. Erma Hermens to participate on this program I didn’t think it twice.

Since then, I’ve dedicated my whole time to create a safe space where science students would be able to understand better artistic and historic techniques to find the middle point where their artistic and creative thinking converges with the scientific one. Thus Physics and art was the program I created eight years ago, to help students to understand the importance between history, science and art. In 2020 we created a little project a Blog where students could write about interdisciplinary subjects.

It later transformed into a social service program and graduation projects and actually is growing to become a multidisciplinary platform of knowledge which you can see here. In 2022 I won a national prize called Fomento de Coinversiones para proyectos culturales FONCA, given by the art and culture federal secretary of Mexico in order to build a platform which will contain several aspects of the interdisciplinary research my group has been doing since and will be available to the public on July 2024.

The platform will be open to the public around July of 2024 and will host a MOOC, a series of interviews and videos that show part of the experiments we have made through the years.
